Job Title: Payroll Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Tempe, AZ (Hybrid)
Compensation: $30 – $35/hour (DOE)
Duration: 3–4 months, with potential for direct-hire based on mutual interest

Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join their team on a contractual or contract-to-hire basis. This role is expected to last 3 to 4 months, with the opportunity for direct hire at the end of the contract, contingent on performance and team fit. This is a hybrid position based in Tempe, AZ, offering flexibility while maintaining collaboration with the team .

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform payroll account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Prepare and book payroll journal entries in accordance with accounting standards

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll accounts

• Work cross-functionally with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws and regulations

• Support audit activities related to payroll accounting as needed

Qualifications:

• Proven experience performing payroll account reconciliations and journal entries

• Strong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles

• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel

• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
