Job Title: Payroll Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Tempe, AZ (Hybrid)
Compensation: $30 – $35/hour (DOE)
Duration: 3–4 months, with potential for direct-hire based on mutual interest
Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join their team on a contractual or contract-to-hire basis. This role is expected to last 3 to 4 months, with the opportunity for direct hire at the end of the contract, contingent on performance and team fit. This is a hybrid position based in Tempe, AZ, offering flexibility while maintaining collaboration with the team .
Key Responsibilities:
Perform payroll account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare and book payroll journal entries in accordance with accounting standards
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll accounts
Work cross-functionally with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies
Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant laws and regulations
Support audit activities related to payroll accounting as needed
Qualifications:
Proven experience performing payroll account reconciliations and journal entries
Strong understanding of payroll processes and accounting principles
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
