NDT Level II Job Description Purpose: - Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking an NDT Level II Inspector for our operations in Norfolk, Virginia to support our maritime and modernization efforts.
Job Description: - Performs proper set up and calibration of NDT equipment. Interpretation and evaluation of NDT results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.
- Maintain custody of the equipment required for Level II NDT inspections.
- Maintains personal NDT training and qualifications
- Performs in-process work surveillances and conduct final work package review after work completion for NDT.
- Documents inspection attributes correctly on company Quality Assurance forms.
Qualifications: - Must have a high school/GED education at a minimum.
- Must have previous military or industrial training/qualification/certification/experience
- Must be documented to meet NDT Level II requirements.
- Must be familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT methods for which qualified/certified.
- Must be able to organize, and report results of NDT inspections.
- Must be familiar with the following methods of testing:
- Visual Inspection (VT).
- Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT)
- Magnetic Inspection (MT)
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with personnel in and outside of the organization.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced level Certification in Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT), Magnetic Inspection (MT). are preferred.
- Technical knowledge with surface ships are preferred.
Security Requirements: - Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance issued by the U.S. DoD
- Ability to gain access to private and public shipyards and Naval installations.
Travel Requirements: - May have some travel up to 25%.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. (More information regarding REAL ID can be found: )
Physical Requirements: - This position is considered production/outdoor work.
- The site may contain mobility barriers with uneven ground level and obstructed pathways.
- Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor climate with various temperatures and noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc..
- This position is considered Medum work.
- Occasional•Lift 20-50 pounds •Work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands. •Identify color differences •Wear PPE for skin protection
- Frequent•Lift 10-25 pounds •Climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects •Twist body, sit with back supported, head forward/flexed, head tilted/rotated, and work with arms extended overhead •Operate a motor vehicle
- Constant•Lift up to 10 pounds
- Wear PPE protection for body, vision, and hearing protection

Pay Range: $27 - $32 per hour
