Vaco has partnered with a fast-growing, community-driven company that is seeking a Payroll Accountant to support payroll-related accounting and reporting. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for process improvement in a collaborative environment. 

Job Title: Interim Payroll Accountant 

Location: Tempe, AZ (4 days onsite) 

Pay Rate: $30 - $38 per hour, depending on experience 

Project Length: Contract-to-hire preferred 

Responsibilities include: 

• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations related to payroll, labor, and benefits 

• Manage payroll reconciliations across multiple entities 

• Process monthly payroll entries including regular, off-cycle, capitalized labor, PTO, and bonus accruals 

• Assist with quarterly and annual payroll reporting compliance 

• Maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy in all payroll-related processes 

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or 5+ years of relevant experience 

• Experience with financial/accounting software 

• High attention to detail and confidentiality 

• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)

• the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;
• licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
