We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced  Controller to lead and manage accounting operations at their organization in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This key leadership role calls for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in financial oversight, team management, and expertise in the  manufacturing and  retail industries. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering efficiency and ensuring high standards in financial operations.
• Financial Reporting : Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Closing Processes : Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulations, including tax filings and quarterly preparation.
• Cost Accounting : Monitor and enhance manufacturing cost accounting processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with the retail and e-commerce teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
• Systems Management : Leverage Microsoft Office tools and (if experienced) Microsoft Business Central to streamline accounting workflows.
• Internal Controls : Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to bolster internal controls.
• Strategic Insight : Provide actionable financial insights to guide leadership in strategic decision-making and business growth.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven financial leadership expertise, particularly within manufacturing and/or retail sectors.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and team management skills.
• Proficiency in relevant accounting tools and processes, including the ability to leverage technology to optimize workflows.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting while maintaining attention to detail.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.

• CPA certification is strongly preferred.

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years leading a team of 5 or more.

• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager is highly desired.

• Background in retail or manufacturing industries is a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential; familiarity with D365 is advantageous.

• Strong expertise in financial statement preparation, month-end/year-end closings, and journal entries.

• Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and retail e-commerce financial practices.
