Job Description
Summary: This position is responsible for managing and directing all job site activities, specifically in commercial building construction and renovation projects, to ensure the project is completed within budgetary, design, scheduling, and quality requirements. This position coordinates the planning of construction equipment and materials to ensure timely delivery, supervises workflow and performance of all subcontractors and field personnel, provides routine communication with management and the client, resolves construction problems, and manages job site safety.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the vertical commercial construction industry and various civil construction and infrastructure projects for the Federal Government. Types of projects include building construction, tenant improvements, dormitory renovations, wet utilities such as water transmission lines, sanitary sewer pipelines, and storm drain improvement projects, as well as demolition projects. Must have strong relationship-building skills, excellent planning and project management skills, and the ability to prioritize and lead others, to collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure the project is a success from start to finish.
The ideal candidate's position will be contingent upon completing the following company-provided training within the first month of employment, if the candidate does not already have this training:
- OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training
- US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors' training
- EM 385-1-1 Training
- Basic First Aid/ CPR
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000/year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Be familiar with all the project plans, specifications, addenda, bulletins, etc., that constitute the contract documents. Furthermore, confirm that all subcontractors working on the site have the most current and complete documents with which to work.
- Accomplish construction project results by defining project purpose and scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards and protocols; allocating resources; scheduling and coordinating staff and subcontractors; evaluating milestone assumptions and conclusions; resolving design problems; and evaluating and implementing change orders.
- Participate in the pre-construction planning sessions by trade to familiarize himself/herself with the unique characteristics of the schedule and trade interface. Become completely knowledgeable with the scope of all subcontract agreements.
- Participate in organization, scheduling, and monitoring of subcontractor's staffing levels for timely project completion. Analyze worker and production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing procedures where practical on the project.
- Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, and with quality workmanship that conforms to design plans and specifications.
- Conduct meetings, as required, with all subcontractor representatives of the project on a daily and/or weekly basis to schedule and coordinate the activities to be accomplished.
- Ensure that all required testing of materials, as specified, is properly conducted and testing results are properly recorded. Coordinate with quality control personnel on site.
- Ensure material is delivered to the construction site per established agreements.
- Record information such as personnel, production, and operational data on specified forms and reports; communicate with the Project Manager.
- Maintain a safe jobsite per the requirements of the project's Safety and Health Plan, and all local and federal safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure the project is properly manned to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Additional duties may include assisting in estimating, review of subcontractor and material proposals, development of the master schedule, assisting in review of shop drawings for key materials, and finalization of as-builts, turnover, and walk-throughs for equipment and material.
Supervision: Subcontractors, Craft Workers, and Laborers
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years or more of relevant working experience and specialized training.
- Practical application of construction scheduling procedures; underground utility, civil construction, inspection, and code enforcement procedures and practices.
- Broad knowledge of vertical construction, dormitory renovations, underground utility excavation and installation, civil construction, road construction, means and methods, and construction operations, and material take-offs.
- Broad knowledge of and experience applying the principles of the US Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual.
- Experience representing the employer regarding local, state, and federal regulators.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (Goggles, Hard hats, Safety Shoes, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications - Associate degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience supervising and directing vertical construction (dormitory renovations) and related field trade crews.
- Detailed knowledge of commercial construction, tenant improvements/renovations, underground utility excavation, installation and testing, civil construction, and road construction
- Proficient in Procore, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Project, PDF Converter Professional, and local, state, and federal databases is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures.

Physical Demands: - Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.
- Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 8 hours.
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.

- The primary work assignment for this position is to support the McConnell AFB Building 350 Renovation Project located in McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas .
- Generally, outdoors, may be subject to changes in weather conditions and noise levels.
Work Schedule: Regular M-F 8:00 to 5:00, or as company needs dictate
